Priority Commerce is seeking an Underwriting Manager to lead a team evaluating merchant credit and risk across processing relationships and products. You will coach the team, enforce underwriting standards, and balance business objectives with prudent risk management.

This role is remote and requires strong leadership and risk acumen. You will collaborate with Sales, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and other stakeholders to resolve escalated matters and to drive continuous improvement in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 10+ years in underwriting or risk.
• Strong knowledge of merchant acquiring and payment processing.
• Ability to assess complex risks and make independent decisions.
• Familiarity with Card Brand requirements and KYC/AML principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop the underwriting team through coaching, mentoring, performance management, training, and clear expectations.
• Oversee merchant underwriting activities and risk exposure across products and processing relationships.
• Serve as escalation point and decision authority for complex or high-risk accounts.
• Monitor portfolio performance, underwriting quality, loss trends, and emerging risks.
• Ensure adherence to Card Brand, KYC/AML requirements and collaborate with Compliance and Risk teams.
• Provide guidance on policy interpretation and risk-based decision making.
• Drive continuous improvement of underwriting policies and workflows.
• Oversee fraud-risk management within underwriting and reduce exposure.
