Job summary

Quantum Electronic Payments LLC is seeking an Experienced Underwriting Manager to lead and develop our merchant underwriting team in a fast-paced fintech environment. You will oversee risk assessments, decision quality, and departmental performance while ensuring adherence to sponsor bank requirements.

The role demands hands-on leadership with strong communication across Risk, Compliance, Sales, and Operations to support responsible growth and scale.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of merchant services underwriting experience.
• Two or more years of underwriting leadership or team-lead experience.
• Experience with sponsor banks, compliance, or risk leadership preferred.
• Experience developing underwriting procedures and training materials preferred.
• Experience using TSYS systems preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the underwriting team with workload distribution and performance management.
• Monitor application volume, turnaround times, accuracy, quality, and overall team performance.
• Review and decide on complex or elevated-risk merchant applications.
• Serve as escalation point for underwriting exceptions and high-risk decisions.
• Evaluate risk across credit, financial, fraud, operational, and reputational factors.
• Recommend reserves, funding controls, volume limits, or other risk-mitigation measures.
• Maintain underwriting policies, procedures, and training materials.
• Partner with Risk, Compliance, Sales, Operations, Accounting, and Executive Leadership.
• Support sponsor bank reviews, audits, and compliance examinations.
• Track and report department metrics, trends, approvals, declines, and quality findings.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and development of underwriting team members.
