Job summary

Splitero, Inc. is seeking an Underwriter to assess risk for our Home Equity Investment product. You will review credit, title, and appraisal documents, determine eligibility, and collaborate with processors and homeowners to move files to closing.

You will own the pipeline from initial review to final approval, focusing on defensible conditions and accurate documentation. This role starts remotely, shifts to hybrid in San Diego in 2027, and requires strong attention to detail and independence.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of underwriting residential real estate or home equity products.
• Ability to work in San Diego office starting January 2027.
• Experience reviewing credit reports, title reports, appraisal reports, mortgage statements, deeds of trust, and recorded instruments.
• Strong title curative knowledge to resolve liens, encumbrances and title exceptions.
• Strong appraisal review skills to identify value concerns and comparables.
• Understanding loan modifications and their impact on underwriting decisions.
• Familiarity with trust vesting and trustee authority.
• Clear, plain-language conditioning and communication with processors and homeowners.
• Experience with loan processing systems or CRM such as Salesforce.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Own your pipeline from initial review through final approval, maintaining a daily review cadence.
• Identify conditions that are purposeful, proportionate, and defensible with clear reasoning.
• Ensure title to property is free of restrictions and identify curing conditions.
• Conduct thorough appraisal reviews and assess comparables and value concerns.
• Review loan modifications to assess lien position and product features.
• Review trust documentation for vesting and eligibility.
• Monitor and approve that all conditions are met prior to funding.
