Job summary

Achieve Company in the Phoenix area is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter to assess loan applications, verify income, review appraisals, and make underwriting decisions for home loans and HELOCs. This hybrid role blends remote work with monthly in-office collaboration.

You will partner with Mortgage Advisors and operations to ensure quality underwriting, adherence to guidelines, and timely approvals while staying current with investor requirements and Regulation B.

Qualifications

• Must have 3–5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience, preferably with HELOCs.
• Strong income calculation and credit review capabilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of Regulation B and investor guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate loan applications and borrowers' creditworthiness
• Adhere to departmental SLAs
• Monitor Regulation B compliance and ensure underwriting decisions meet SLAs
• Verify income and employment information, review credit history, and calculate collateral values
• Analyze self-employed income and prepare Self-Employed Analysis
• Review appraisals (AVM, PICR, 1004, 1025) to meet loan standards
• Contact 3rd party vendors to resolve discrepancies
• Follow underwriting procedures
• Approve/deny loan requests based on guidelines
• Document reasons for approval/denial and issue adverse action notices
• Answer audit issues on purchases or pre-purchased loans
