Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is hiring an experienced Home Equity Underwriter to manage end-to-end underwriting of Home Equity loan files in Frisco, TX. You will own the full file, evaluating credit, income, assets, collateral, conditions, and final underwriting decisions, while partnering with processors to move loans toward clear-to-close.

This role requires at least 2 years of conventional mortgage underwriting with direct decision-making, strong risk assessment, and the ability to work in

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of conventional mortgage underwriting experience with direct decision-making.
  • Full-file underwriting ownership across credit, income, assets, collateral, conditions, and final decisions.
  • Direct appraisal and title review experience.
  • Strong experience analyzing self-employed income and complex borrower scenarios.
  • Ability to independently evaluate and clear underwriting conditions.
  • Strong understanding of credit policy, underwriting guidelines, collateral evaluation, and risk assessment.
  • Experience working in a compliance-driven, production-oriented environment with accountability for quality and turn times.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when partnering with processors.
  • Ability to work standard business hours aligned with Central Time.
  • Ability to work from the Frisco, Texas office 1–2 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and decide Home Equity loan files in accordance with company policies and applicable investor and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform full credit risk analysis, including borrower creditworthiness, income stability, assets, and collateral.
  • Review and analyze credit reports, income and asset documentation, tax returns, appraisals, title reports, and other loan documentation.
  • Apply independent credit judgment in a manual or semi-manual underwriting environment.
  • Independently evaluate and clear underwriting conditions to maintain pipeline momentum.
  • Analyze self-employed borrower income, including Schedule C, K-1s, partnerships, corporate returns, and business tax returns.
  • Identify potential risk, fraud, or documentation concerns and elevate appropriately.
  • Collaborate closely with loan processors to resolve documentation gaps and move loans toward closing.
  • Make clear, well-documented, and defensible approval, suspension, or decline decisions.
  • Meet established production, turn-time, quality, accuracy, and compliance expectations.

the company is hiring an experienced Home Equity Underwriter to support a growing lending portfolio. This is a true full-file underwriting role with end-to-end ownership of credit, income, assets, collateral, conditions, and final underwriting decisions. The underwriter will partner closely with processors to move loans efficiently from review through clear-to-close while maintaining strong quality, compliance, and risk discipline.

This role is best suited for an underwriter who is comfortable exercising independent credit judgment in a manual or semi-manual environment and owning the entire file—not just one segment of the process.

What you’ll do:

  • DU/LP experience as supporting conventional underwriting exposure.
  • CHUMS, SAR, or VA credit authority.
