The role emphasizes meticulous documentation, adherence to HIPAA, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to improve revenue recovery outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong investigative, analytical skills to identify payment discrepancies.
• Knowledge of healthcare billing and reimbursement methodologies.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer policies.
• Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Analyze hospital claims to identify discrepancies between expected and actual reimbursements.
• Investigate underpayments and variances due to coding or policy errors.
• Contact insurers to obtain missing information and clarify decisions.
• Prepare documentation to support reimbursement recovery (letters, emails, appeals, reports).
• Maintain records of investigations and learnings for audits and knowledge sharing.
• Apply payer guidelines to support accurate claims recovery.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve complex recovery issues.
• Participate in team meetings to improve workflows and processes.
• Uphold HIPAA and data confidentiality throughout analysis and recovery activities.
