Job summary

Baker Tilly is seeking a Manager to join its growing Consulting practice, delivering accounting and grant management services to Tribal governments. The role emphasizes close client collaboration, timely reporting, and practical process improvements.

You will lead engagements, develop policy updates, coordinate audits, and help grow the practice while ensuring high quality deliverables and strong client relationships across multiple projects. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience, not-for-profit and/or governmental experience.
• Experience in grants management, financial accounting including account reconciliation, governmental accounting standards implementation, and/or accounts payable processing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including commitment to exceptional client service.
• Ability to understand problems, think critically and identify creative solutions.
• Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Performs operational, accounting, and consulting services for Tribal governments, including monthly closing, grants management, grant reporting, and financial reporting to key decision makers.
• Prepares polished deliverables for clients and ensures timely client deliverables.
• Develops policies and procedures on key accounting matters.
• Collaborates with clients to understand current practices, identifies improvement opportunities, and helps define new processes.
• Performs project startup activities, follows work plans, adheres to schedules, and attends kickoff meetings.
• Coordinates with clients during the audit process and assists in audit readiness.
• Assists with growing the practice and reviews work for accuracy.
• Serves as an integral member of the Business Consulting Services team.
• Occasionally travels to client locations, trainings, or conferences.
