Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group seeks a Threat Detection Engineer to strengthen cybersecurity posture through detection, monitoring, and threat hunting initiatives. You will develop SIEM rules, perform investigations, and collaborate with multiple teams to enhance coverage and audit readiness.

Role requires 5+ years in threat detection, hands-on SIEM experience, and knowledge of security frameworks. Remote EST-based position with emphasis on governance, risk, and compliance activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on threat detection engineering experience with SIEM rules at scale.
• 5+ years cybersecurity experience in threat detection, security operations, incident response, or audits.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk ES, QRadar, Elastic Security).
• Experience developing and maintaining detection rules, alerts, and monitoring processes.
• Strong knowledge of auditing principles, risk management, regulatory compliance, and control standards.
• Experience supporting audits and auditor requests.
• Knowledge of network, endpoint, and cloud security monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain threat detection and monitoring capabilities across environments.
• Develop, tune, and optimize SIEM use cases, detection rules, alerts, and correlations.
• Conduct proactive threat hunting and security investigations to identify suspicious activity.
• Collaborate with Security Operations, Incident Response, Infrastructure, and Cloud teams to improve coverage.
• Support audits by providing evidence and responses to requests.
• Evaluate and enhance security controls to improve compliance and risk reduction.
• Align monitoring practices with regulatory requirements and security frameworks.
• Analyze logs and telemetry from network, endpoint, cloud, and applications.
• Develop metrics, dashboards, and reporting to measure detection effectiveness and readiness.
• Automate monitoring, investigations, and reporting via scripting and workflows.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Maintain documentation of controls, monitoring processes, detection logic, and audit artifacts.
