Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC is seeking a Threat Detection Engineer to strengthen our cybersecurity posture through detection development, security monitoring, threat hunting, and audit readiness initiatives. This remote EST role collaborates with Security Operations, Incident Response, Infrastructure, and Cloud teams.

The candidate will design and optimize SIEM rules, investigate threats, and support audits while aligning with regulatory standards and security frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on detection engineering experience, including SIEM rules at scale, scripting (PowerShell or Python).
• 5+ years in threat detection, security operations, audit, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk ES, QRadar, Elastic).
• Experience developing detection content, alerts, and correlation rules.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain threat detection and monitoring capabilities across enterprise environments.
• Develop, tune, and optimize SIEM use cases, detection rules, alerts, and correlation logic.
• Conduct proactive threat hunting, security investigations, and event analysis.
• Partner with Security Operations, Incident Response, Infrastructure, and Cloud teams to improve detection coverage.
• Support audits by providing evidence, documentation, and audit responses.
• Evaluate security controls and recommend enhancements.
• Align monitoring practices to regulatory requirements and standards.
• Analyze logs and telemetry from network, endpoint, cloud, and applications.
• Develop metrics, dashboards, and reporting to measure detection effectiveness.
• Automate monitoring, investigation, and reporting via scripting.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Maintain documentation of controls, monitoring processes, and audit artifacts.
