Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company in Arizona seeks a Territory Production Underwriter for the Middle Market Commercial Lines. The role supports the Commercial Middle Market Business Development Team and expects performance in a remote or field-based setup within the Arizona territory.

The ideal candidate is analytical and a strong relationship-builder with seven years’ underwriting and sales experience in commercial lines, plus a Bachelor’s degree; CPCU or CIC designation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• License/Certification/Designation: CPCU or CIC preferred.
• Experience: Seven years of progressively more responsible underwriting and sales experience in commercial lines is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors market conditions and competitive landscape within the territory.
• Researches risk, environment and factors needed to win accounts.
• Analyzes quality and quantity of risks underwritten and prepares reports accordingly.
• Reviews agency books of business and analyzes profit/growth trends to guide action plans.
• Analyzes regional underwriting performance, identifies problems at territory level and proposes solutions.
• Meets production, profitability and service objectives; quotes, prices and underwrites policies for complex accounts.
• Manages workflow and accuracy of underwriting assignments; ensures timely file handling and adherence to standards.
