Job summary

County of Riverside seeks a Telemetry Technician to remotely observe EKG screens, interpret rhythms, document findings, and report abnormalities to licensed staff in a central monitoring location at RUHS-Medical Center in Moreno Valley. The role involves 12-hour day/night shifts and requires specialized training in dysrhythmia detection under supervision.

As a TAP position, responsibilities include continuous monitoring of EKG, pulse oximetry, and RR, with escalation to licensed staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• One year in an acute care setting providing clerical support or patient care.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and telemetry monitoring procedures.
• Ability to follow departmental procedures and maintain data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Run ECG strips per protocol; measure, analyze and interpret rhythms.
• Observe cardiac monitoring tracing for all patients on telemetry.
• Describe characteristics of ECG rhythms and document rhythms per policies.
• Admit, transfer, and/or discharge patients from telemetry systems as applicable.
• Respond to alarms or changes from baseline, including ECG rhythm and vitals.
• Provide rhythm strips to the medical record and maintain data accuracy.
• Provide reports to relieving technician on significant rhythm changes.
• Maintain monitoring equipment and inventory per department standards.
