Job summary

ICF, a global consulting and technology services company, is seeking a Technical Writer to lead research, writing, editing, and production across articles, reports, white papers, and related communications for FHWA compliance.

You will partner with engineers and researchers to translate complex data into clear content, manage the full document lifecycle, ensure editorial quality, and apply Section 508 accessibility standards, style guides, and copyright considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, English, communications, journalism, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of professional experience in technical writing, editing, and publishing.
• Experience translating engineering or research information into clear content for technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Familiarity with major style guides and Section 508 accessibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Research and write original content for feature articles, technical reports, white papers, newsletters, and other technical communications.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, developers, and technical staff to translate complex concepts into clear content.
• Provide comprehensive editorial support across all stages of production for print and digital materials.
• Edit, rephrase, and rewrite content to improve flow, coherence, organization, grammar, and formatting.
• Verify technical accuracy, perform fact-checking, and ensure proper integration of tables and figures.
