Aptive is seeking a full-time Technical Writer to support the FHWA RD&T at TFHRC. You will research, write, and edit a range of materials from one-page sheets to large reports, translating engineering concepts for technical and general audiences.

Qualifications

5-10 years of professional experience in technical writing, editing, and publishing.

Experience supporting federal government or research communications projects.

Responsibilities

Research, write, and edit technical reports, fact sheets, newsletters, and manuals.
Collaborate with engineers and researchers to translate complex concepts for diverse audiences.
Provide editing and proofreading across all production stages, ensuring quality and accuracy.
Verify technical accuracy via interviews, research, and fact-checking.
Ensure content conforms to style guides and accessibility requirements; manage version control.
Coordinate review with FHWA contacts and external stakeholders when needed.
