Job summary

ICF is seeking a Technical Editor to lead the editorial process for complex, high-visibility technical documents and web publications. You will collaborate with program managers, subject matter experts, and leadership to ensure clarity, accuracy, and usability for transportation practitioners and the traveling public.

You will provide substantive editing, maintain consistency across programs, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in English, Journalism, or a technical field.
10+ years of experience editing and reviewing technical documents, managing projects, and supervising staff.
10+ years of experience with GPO Style Manual and government publishing standards, document quality control, and Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Lead the editorial process for complex, high-visibility technical documents, reports, manuals, publications, and web-based products.
Perform substantive and technical editing to improve organization, clarity, readability, accuracy, consistency, and usability.
Transform raw data, engineering terminology, and highly technical subject matter into clear content for technical and nontechnical audiences.
Provide editorial leadership and guidance to junior staff and other project team members.
