Job summary

OnPay, Inc. is seeking a Tax Operations Analyst to manage high-volume payroll tax filings and remittances nationwide. You will work at the intersection of tax compliance, finance, and software automation to ensure clients stay compliant while supporting scaling of core processing systems.

The role requires 2–4+ years in payroll tax/ tax operations, strong regulatory knowledge, and advanced Excel skills. Remote-friendly with HQ in Atlanta; CPP/FPC desirable.

Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of experience in payroll tax processing, tax operations, or multi-state tax compliance.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and forms.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with electronic filing formats and tax agency portals (EFTPS, tax centers).
• Proven ability to troubleshoot filing rejects and ledger variances.
• High attention to detail with strict deadlines in high-volume environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience.
• CPP or FPC preferred.
• Hands-on experience with IRS e-services and state government portals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, validate, and execute recurring tax filings across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
• Ensure precise, on-time electronic tax funds transfers and check payments to authorities.
• Reconcile core ledger balances against tax liability calculations and client wage data.
• Test and validate payroll software updates for new tax rates and forms.
• Identify filing errors, automate manual reconciliation, and improve throughput.
• Monitor changes in tax filing schedules, payment rules, and electronic formats.
• Communicate with federal, state, and local tax agencies regarding client accounts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
