Job summary

Cover Whale is seeking a Business Development Manager for the Southwest region (Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada or California) to drive revenue growth by expanding agency partnerships and coordinating across underwriting, marketing, and development teams.

This remote role balances travel with ongoing remote work in the Southwest, offering a base pay range plus bonus and benefits. You will lead partner recruitment and performance and coach a high‑performing team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 4–6 years in business development or account management.
• Experience developing and managing retail/wholesale brokers, MGAs, MGUs, and other partners.
• Proven ability to drive revenue from distribution partners.
• Strong cold-calling, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Thorough understanding of insurance financials.
• Attention to detail and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Develop and drive distribution strategies to generate premium with agency partners.
• Manage and grow relationships with brokers, MGAs, MGUs in territory.
• Represent Cover Whale at meetings, seminars, trade shows, and events.
• Track KPIs and report progress toward revenue goals.
• Lead continuous improvement of partner management and onboarding.
• Collaborate with underwriting, marketing, and development teams.
• Incorporate AI and emerging tech into workflows while maintaining compliance.
