Job summary

BlueLabs is seeking a Survey Scientist to apply statistics, programming, and domain expertise to build the methodological backbone for our products and client projects. You will solve problems, innovate, and deliver value in a fast-paced environment, mentoring teammates and collaborating across disciplines.

The role emphasizes creating reusable tools, overseeing predictive models, and ensuring high-quality data workflows while supporting clients across the U.S. workflow.

Qualifications

• Experience in a quantitative production environment or a postgraduate degree in a quantitative field.
• Foundation in statistics and modeling (distributions, parameter estimation, confidence intervals and tests).
• Experience with survey data and survey design, plus sample weighting.
• Advanced Python programming and analytical tooling.
• Experience building predictive models with regression and machine learning.
• Ability to manipulate data with SQL and produce analytical output in a production context.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and present data clearly.
• Experience creating informative data visualizations and leading teams.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Director of Polling on design, implementation, and delivery of survey products.
• Develop and maintain internal tools to support data collection, processing and analysis.
• Own the predictive modeling process from ingestion to deployment.
• Ensure quality of data and modeling results, with data cleaning and reporting.
• Collaborate with polling managers, data scientists and stakeholders to troubleshoot and create solutions.
• Help optimize data infrastructure and pipelines for reliable data flow.
• Assist in experiment and survey design, including sample selection and weighting.
• Document processes and evangelize new approaches; work independently and in teams.
