Job summary

Integrative Emergency Services, LLC (IES) seeks a certified Medical Coding Specialist focused on surgical services. You will code CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II for professional surgical services, review records for medical necessity, and ensure compliance with CMS and payer guidelines.

This role supports clean claim submissions and reduces denials. Hybrid or remote work options are available; if remote, residency must be in an IES-operating state.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of professional medical coding experience.
• Active coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA is required.
• Strong surgical coding experience is required.
• Experience with CMS Part B and commercial payer reimbursement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes for professional surgical services based on medical records.
• Evaluate records for proper code assignment, completeness, accuracy, and medical necessity.
• Ensure coding compliance with CMS and payer guidelines.
• Conduct claim reviews to support clean claim submission and reduce denials.
• Audit coding accuracy via ad hoc reports and focused reviews.
• Analyze coding denials and recommend corrective actions.
• Review payer policies and stay current on coding updates and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with providers and leadership to clarify documentation and improve coding specificity.
• Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks of the department.
• Serve as a subject matter resource for surgical coding guidance.
