Job summary

Integrative Emergency Services, LLC (IES) is seeking a certified Medical Coding Specialist focused on surgical services. You will assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes, review records for accuracy, and ensure compliance with CMS and payer guidelines.

The role supports documentation integrity, reduces denials through audits, collaborates with clinicians and leadership, and adapts to hybrid or remote work within states IES operates. AAPC or AHIMA certification is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years professional medical coding experience.
• Strong surgical coding experience required.
• Active coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA.
• Surgical-specific coding certification (CGSC, CASCC, CCVTC) or CPMA auditing.
• Experience with CMS Part B and payer reimbursement methodologies.
• Ability to work in hybrid or remote office environments.
• Familiarity with NCCI edits and coding guidance updates.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes for professional surgical services.
• Review records for medical necessity, completeness, and accuracy.
• Ensure coding compliance with CMS, payer, and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct claim reviews to support clean submissions and reduce denials.
• Audit coding accuracy via ad hoc reports and focused reviews.
• Analyze denials and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with providers and leadership to improve documentation.
• Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks in the department.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for surgical coding guidance.
• Stay current on coding updates and NCCI bundling rules.
