Job summary

Integrative Emergency Services (IES) seeks a certified Medical Coding Specialist focused on surgical services. You will assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes, review records for accuracy, and ensure compliance with CMS and payer guidelines.

Remote or hybrid work options are available, with eligibility based on location. Ideal candidates have at least five years of professional medical coding experience, strong surgical coding skills, and active AAPC or AHIMA certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional medical coding experience.
• Strong surgical coding experience required.
• Active coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA.
• Surgical coding/auditing certifications preferred (CGSC, CASCC, CCVTC, CPMA).

Responsibilities

• Assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes for professional surgical services.
• Evaluate medical records for code accuracy, completeness, and medical necessity.
• Ensure coding compliance with CMS, payer, and regulatory guidelines.
• Perform claim reviews to support clean claim submissions and reduce denials.
• Audit coding accuracy through focused reviews and special projects.
• Analyze denials and recommend corrective actions.
• Stay current on coding updates and regulations; collaborate with providers on documentation.
