Job summary

South Texas College seeks a Supplemental Instruction Leader to provide academic learning support, tutoring students in classrooms and skill labs, and assisting with daily operations of the College’s learning centers.

The role requires strong communication and computer skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and the capacity to work onsite or remotely as assigned. The position emphasizes student success and collaboration with faculty.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college certificate or 30 college hours preferred.
• Demonstrated mastery of sufficient coursework in subject, earning at least a grade of B required, preferably an A.

Responsibilities

• Provides educational assistance to students to improve understanding.
• Prepares workshops and materials to enhance learning.
• Attends classes or holds study sessions onsite or online as assigned.
• Guides students in diverse instructional settings, providing feedback and answering questions.
• Integrates study strategy techniques with course content.
• Attends lectures and functions as a model student in the programmatic framework.
• Leads in-class small group discussions, demonstrations, or activities.
• Maintains working relationships with the course content instructor, students, and supervisor.
• Keeps regular records and lesson plans using required software and submits paperwork on time.
• Promotes and presents information about academic support services at the Centers for Learning Excellence.
• Serves as liaison with faculty and staff to support student success as directed.
