Job summary

South Texas College seeks a Student Learning Assistant to provide academic learning support, tutoring, and assist with daily operations of the Centers for Learning Excellence. This role involves in-person and online instruction, workshop prep, and promoting available resources.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED with college coursework, strong communication skills, and ability to work both independently and as a team.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to prioritize, organize and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Ability to interact effectively with a diverse, multi-cultural student population.

Responsibilities

• Provides academic learning support to students in specific disciplines in center and online as assigned.
• Assists in preparation of workshops and materials to enhance student comprehension.
• Integrates study strategies with course content.
• Provides individual and group instruction to students using distance learning formats.
• Keeps regular records and submits required paperwork on time.
• Participates in training, workshops and departmental meetings.
