Job summary

South Texas College seeks a Student Learning Assistant to provide academic learning support, tutoring students, and assist with daily operations of the Centers for Learning Excellence. Duties include teaching in-center and online, preparing workshops, and promoting available resources.

Required: high school diploma or GED; 30 college hours preferred; strong communication and computer skills; ability to multitask and work with a diverse student population. CRLA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication.
• Strong computer skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provides educational assistance to students in specific disciplines to improve understanding, in-center or online.
• Assists in preparing workshops and materials to enhance comprehension.
• Integrates study strategies with course content.
• Provides individual and group instruction to students, including distance learning.
• Keeps records using required software and submits paperwork timely.
• Promotes information about academic support services at the Centers for Learning Excellence.
• Serves as liaison with faculty and staff to support student success.
• Participates in departmental training, workshops and meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
