Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Substation Training and Quality Engineer to lead training initiatives and drive quality improvements within the Substation Engineering department. The role emphasizes developing and maintaining training programs and supporting quality processes to ensure the team has the tools to excel.

The position requires a PE license, a Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree, 7+ years in substation design, and a collaborative, innovative mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• PE License is required.
• 7+ years of substation structural design experience.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Willingness to support growth in others.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
• Openness to innovation and AI tools to enhance workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide QC, quality audits, and project mentoring on substation projects.
• Submit Quality Reports as part of QC.
• Review Quality Escapes and identify root causes for quality errors.
• Own and refine substation quality processes, checklists, tools, and guidance.
• Communicate department-wide training and quality initiatives.
• Collaborate with leadership on training needs and process improvements.
• Create and maintain training curriculum within Ulteig University.
• Engage in lessons learned and update quality checklists as needed.
• Coordinate and schedule lunch and learn opportunities.
• Assist clients with technical training.
• Assess industry trends and new technologies.
• Balance 60% billable QC/audits and 40% training/initiatives.
