Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Substation Designer to develop electrical construction drawings for substations and mentor junior designers. You will create single line and three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, and cable schedules using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and MicroStation.

You will work under Professional Engineers, ensure drawings meet standards, and coordinate with other departments to deliver complex projects from Birmingham, AL.

Qualifications

• Four plus years of experience designing schematics, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, and schematics.
• Four plus years of electrical design experience using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Demonstrable proficiency using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer aided (CAD) design or in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering technology or equivalent experience and/or education.

Responsibilities

• Create drawings using the latest standards for a given project.
• Follow part naming, numbering, file naming and management protocols.
• Use Vault and ProjectWise for project documentation and tracking of design changes.
• Handle complex projects with minimal supervision and mentor junior designers.
• Coordinate with other departments involved in the design project and validate drawings.
