Job summary

ArchPoint Engineering is seeking a Lead Substation Design Engineer to own substation design work from planning through construction support, guiding technical decisions and coordinating with civil, structural, and field teams to deliver clear, construction-ready documents.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited), 10+ years of substation design experience in utility or industrial settings, and proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
10+ years of substation design experience in utility/industrial environments.
PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and/or review protection & controls designs: one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, interfaces.
Develop and/or review physical substation designs: yard layouts, details, grounding, lightning protection, control house, raceways, and BOMs.
Prepare and review engineering calculations: grounding, lightning protection, load studies, conduit sizing.
Prepare equipment specs and support procurement, drawings reviews, and FAT coordination.
Coordinate design activities with civil, structural, transmission, protection, field testing, construction, and client teams.
Lead design reviews in client meetings and maintain technical correspondence.
