Job summary

ENERCON Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation Designer - Physical Designer in Overland Park, KS (or remote options) to design the backbone of the power grid, drafting substation layouts, elevations, grounding, and control building plans.

You will collaborate with engineers across disciplines, perform design calculations, and provide on-site field support during construction to ensure safe, reliable energy delivery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Substation designing
• Familiarity with relay protection schemes
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE
• Must be self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables
• Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings

Responsibilities

• Substation Design & Drafting: Develop substation drawings including General Arrangements, Elevations, Conduit Plans/Details, Grounding Plans/Details, Foundation Plans, Lightning Protection plans, and control building layouts.
• Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Perform substation design calculations including lightning protection, voltage drop, and conduit fill.
• Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Work with peers to ensure accurate and on-time electrical design that meets client and industry standards and good engineering practices.
• Field Support: Provide on-site technical support for ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning.
