Job summary

Enercon Services, Inc. seeks a Substation Designer – Physical Designer to draft substation layouts, elevations, grounding, and control building plans, coordinating with engineers across disciplines. The role includes design calculations and QA processes to ensure accuracy and standards compliance.

The position also involves field support during construction and commissioning, with travel to client sites as required. This is an opportunity to contribute to resilient power delivery infrastructure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Substation designing, with a primary focus on executing physical design projects.
• Familiarity with relay protection schemes.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE.
• Must be self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings.

Responsibilities

• Substation Design & Drafting: Develop electric substation drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Conduit Plans/Details, Grounding Plans/Details, Foundation Plans, Lightning Protection plans, and control building layouts. Work closely with the Civil Engineering department to develop substation foundation and structure detail drawings
• Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Perform substation design calculations lightning protection, voltage drop, and conduit fill
• Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices
• Field Support: Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required
