Job summary

ENERCON's Substation Group is seeking a Substation Designer - Physical Designer in multiple office locations, including Houston, Dallas, Orlando, Tampa, Palm Beach Gardens, Overland Park, KS, and Remote. You will design substations, draft layouts, and provide field support to ensure safe, reliable energy delivery.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in substation design, familiarity with relay protection schemes, and proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD; willingness to travel for client site

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Substation designing.
• Familiarity with relay protection schemes.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE.
• Must be self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings.

Responsibilities

• Substation Design & Drafting: Develop electric substation drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Conduit Plans/Details, Grounding Plans/Details, Foundation Plans, Lightning Protection plans, and control building layouts. Work closely with the Civil Engineering department to develop substation foundation and structure detail drawings.
• Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Perform substation design calculations lightning protection, voltage drop, and conduit fill.
• Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices.
• Field Support: Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required #LI-MD1
