Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Structural Engineer, SME, for our Power Division. This senior role provides expert structural engineering support, technical governance, design oversight, quality assurance, and mentorship across substations, transmission lines, renewable energy, and related infrastructure.

The successful candidate will ensure technical excellence, code compliance, and constructability, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting business development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
• 20+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, preferably in consulting environments.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E. in US or Canada).
• Extensive experience designing steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundations for substations and power projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for structural design across Power Division projects.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to structural engineers and teams.
• Review and approve structural deliverables for accuracy, quality, and standards compliance.
• Lead structural design across substations, transmission facilities, wind, solar, and hydro infrastructure.
• Perform seismic, wind, and foundation analyses and develop innovative design solutions.
• Establish design criteria, standards, and QA procedures; conduct peer reviews.
