Job summary

Above Group is seeking a Structural Designer to join our Structural Engineering team. You will produce CAD drawings and calculations, translating engineers' visions into clear, buildable documents while collaborating with engineers and project managers on site visits and construction-phase support.

Requirements include 3+ years of related experience, an associate degree in drafting/design (or similar), and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Associate's degree in computer drafting and design or a related field, preferred.
• Proficient in structural concepts including connection design, design loads, lateral systems, materials, and foundation design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit; proficient in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills; able to interface with senior management.

Responsibilities

• Create CAD drawings and calculations under the direction of structural engineers; carry out structural design for assigned projects.
• Develop and implement design criteria and system designs from concept to construction; align with procedures and client standards.
• Work with engineers to translate vision into drawings; support with design tasks, markups, and review comments.
• Interpret Basis of Design documents, field surveys, and code research; author BOD narratives and design criteria documents.
• Coordinate with team members and other disciplines on layout of structural systems and equipment locations.
• Review shop drawing submittals and respond to RFIs and other construction-phase tasks.
• Travel to job sites to understand project conditions and progress.
• Attend project meetings and keep leads and managers informed on timelines.
• Incorporate feedback from project managers to deliver top-quality products.
• Maintain current knowledge of codes, standards, and local regulations.
