Job summary

Above Group, Inc. is seeking a Structural Designer I to support the Engineering team by producing designs and drawings for current and future projects. You will work both independently and with engineers to ensure quality and alignment with company standards.

You will review codes, create CAD drawings, and help develop designs from concept through construction, while coordinating with team leads and clients to meet timelines and deliverables.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in computer-a drafting and design or related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience in an ME P/AE firm or similar.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software programs.
• Proficient knowledge of BlueBeam and Microsoft Suite.
• Knowledge of design tools such as STAAD, TEDDS, RAM Structural System.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Review current building codes for the project location and maintain knowledge of codes and regulations.
• Create CAD drawings and calculations under the direction of Engineers.
• Develop and implement design criteria and system designs from concept to construction.
• Collaborate with Engineers to translate vision into drawings and designs.
• Maintain clear communication with Engineers leads and managers on timelines and deadlines.
• Coordinate with team on layout of distribution systems and equipment location.
• Review shop drawing submittals and field visits to gain project understanding.
• Interpret Basis of Design, field surveys, and code research.
• Analyze feedback from project managers to produce top-quality products.
• Assist in selection of equipment and fixtures.
• Respond to RFIs and other construction-phase tasks.
• Attend meetings to ensure timelines and concerns are met.
• Engage with new clients to support business development.
