Onyx Creative is seeking a Structural Drafter to develop structural drawings, models, and construction documents for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Working with Structural Engineers and project leaders, you will draft, model, detail, and coordinate to support project delivery.

The Structural Drafter is responsible for developing structural drawings, models, and construction documents for commercial, industrial, and residential building projects. Working under the direction of Structural Engineers and project leaders, this position supports project execution through drafting, modeling, detailing, and coordination activities that facilitate the successful delivery of engineering projects.
The Structural Drafter ensures drawings and models are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, company standards, and established drafting procedures. This position collaborates with engineers, architects, and other professionals to produce coordinated, high-quality construction documents that support successful project outcomes.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review and evaluate drafting and modeling tasks assigned by the Structural Department Manager, Senior Structural Engineer, or Project Engineer.
Review project scope, schedules, deliverables, and design requirements to understand assigned responsibilities and project objectives.
Participate in project kickoff meetings and coordination meetings to understand project requirements, milestones, and interdisciplinary coordination needs.
Develop and revise structural drawings, models, plans, sections, details, schedules, and other construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and other applicable software.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of Building Information Models (BIM) and coordinate models with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
Incorporate engineering design information, calculations, sketches, markups, and redline comments into construction documents accurately and efficiently.
Maintain drawing organization, file management, drafting standards, and project documentation in accordance with company procedures.
Monitor assigned tasks and communicate progress, resource needs, schedule impacts, and potential issues to the assigned project lead.
Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, and internal project team members to resolve drawing and model conflicts and ensure document accuracy.
Follow established quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures to help ensure the accuracy and completeness of project deliverables.
Maintain proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, BIM technologies, and applicable industry standards through ongoing training and professional development.
Maintain positive working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project team members.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Structural Engineering, Structural Department Manager, or Senior Structural Engineer.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Associate degree in Drafting and Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum two years of experience preparing construction documents for commercial, industrial, institutional, or residential building projects.
Proficient use of drafting and modeling software including AutoCAD and Revit.
Working knowledge of building construction practices, structural systems, and construction document development.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to interpret engineering sketches, markups, calculations, and design information and accurately incorporate them into construction documents.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows and interdisciplinary model coordination.
Experience working in a consulting engineering or architectural/engineering (A/E) firm environment.
Ability to perform site surveys nationwide
Physical, Cognitive and Mental Demands:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. The position requires strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, along with the ability to interpret technical information and manage multiple priorities.
