Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks an HB Coding Strategic Data Analyst to transform coding data into insights that drive performance, compliance, and strategic decisions across hospital billing coding operations.

You will develop reports and dashboards to identify outpatient trends, measure outcomes, and improve financial performance and coding accuracy. The role supports coding leadership with data-driven resource planning and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Associate degree in health information management or related field.
AHIMA or AAPC membership preferred and RHIA credential considered a plus.
Epic certification required within six months of hire or as stated.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary analytics resource for Coding Leadership, turning data into actionable insights.
Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, reports, and ad hoc analyses.
Analyze coding and revenue cycle data to identify trends, risks, variances, and improvement opportunities, and advise leadership.
Translate analytical findings into clear reports and visuals for stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal and external teams to support reporting needs and achieve goals.
Use Epic, CAC, Power BI, and Microsoft tools to evaluate functionality and validate requirements.
Document workflows, support upgrades, and act as SME for Epic and CAC workflows.
Lead reporting and continuous improvement initiatives using project management principles.
