Job summary

Excellus BCBS is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to translate business needs into IT requirements and specifications for system solutions. You will serve as the primary interface between business and IT, gathering, documenting, and analyzing all levels of requirements to guide architects and developers.

The role evolves with levels I–IV, offering opportunities to mentor, lead projects, and drive process improvements across the health plan environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field; or three years of relevant work experience.
• Basic understanding of data flow diagrams like UML or capabilities matrices.
• Demonstrated basic understanding of data and systems analytics skills.
• Basic experience writing requirements or user stories that are clear and well organized.
• Familiarity with waterfall or agile scrum methodologies and automated testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with all stakeholders to elicit, analyze, specify, and gather business, stakeholder, and solution requirements.
• Creates functional and non-functional requirements based on stakeholder requirements including business, IT and best practices.
• Develops understanding of the business, application, and data domain.
• Defines scope as they flow from business stakeholders to development teams in an iterative release process.
• Leads complex projects and ensures solutions support business, enterprise, and data strategies.
