Job summary

GoTo is seeking a State Tax Senior Analyst for a part-time, remote US role based in the Accounting & Finance team. You’ll handle recurring state tax compliance, notices, and related SALT work while collaborating across departments to ensure accuracy and strong controls.

The position emphasizes independent responsibility, sophisticated Excel use, and research into telecommunications tax nuances, with compensation aligned to a 24-hour week schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing state and local tax returns and supporting recurring tax compliance processes
• Experience responding to state tax notices and maintaining organized supporting documentation and workpapers
• Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage responsibilities independently with strong follow-through
• Working knowledge of SALT fundamentals including income tax, sales/use tax, nexus, and indirect tax concepts, with the ability to research and communicate tax conclusions clearly
• Preferred experience with sales/use tax, tax provision support, Avalara, AvaTax, NetSuite, telecommunications tax, or public accounting environments

Responsibilities

• Preparing and supporting recurring state tax compliance processes, including state income tax returns, payments, schedules, supporting documentation, and workpapers
• Assisting with quarterly tax provision support and maintaining accurate, audit-ready documentation across recurring tax processes and filings
• Responding to state tax notices, gathering supporting audit documentation, and partnering with internal teams to address tax-related requests and compliance needs
• Supporting operational tax processes including business license filings, annual reports, customer requests for information, and sales tax exemption certificate tracking and documentation
• Conducting tax research, summarizing findings clearly and concisely, and developing working knowledge of telecommunications taxes, fees, and related compliance requirements through ongoing training and collaboration with the broader tax team
