Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks a Director, State Data Initiatives based in the United States. The role leads state partnerships to help governments use administrative data to improve policy, strengthen programs, and drive impact through governance and cross-agency collaboration.

The ideal candidate brings 7–10 years in state government or data initiatives, advanced degree preferred, and a proven track record in leading complex multi-agency projects.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience in state government, administrative data initiatives, or public policy.
• State government expertise with administrative data initiatives and governance.
• Strong understanding of state agency structures, decision-making, and procurement.
• Advanced degree preferred; bachelor’s plus equivalent experience acceptable.
• Experience with secure data environments, privacy-preserving workflows, dashboards or data visualization preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead state partnerships from scoping through implementation and closeout.
• Advise on data governance, governance frameworks, and cross-agency collaboration.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across researchers, data stewards, and policy experts.
• Develop proposals, scopes of work, and pricing considerations for new engagements.
• Represent the organization at conferences, working groups, and partner convenings.
• Improve programs and delivery approaches based on partner feedback and outcomes.
