Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Agent Productivity team. You will own platform architecture, build secure, scalable services, and create reusable tooling to empower teams to deploy agents with context and capabilities across Slack and enterprise apps.

This role emphasizes developer productivity, governance, and reliability, with collaboration across IT, Security, Privacy, Legal, and product teams to shape technical direction and roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Strong backend and distributed-systems fundamentals, including API design and production reliability.
• Experience designing secure, permission-aware systems that access sensitive data or take actions on behalf of users.
• Experience building developer platforms, reusable tooling, or shared services.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for agent productivity, with Slack as the primary surface.
• Design and build secure, reliable services across Slack and enterprise apps for context, tools, and actions.
• Develop reusable SDKs, connectors, and deployment patterns to reduce integration effort and improve productivity.
• Establish governance, observability, and lifecycle management for agents and integrations.
