Job summary

Accredo Specialty Pharmacy is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to interpret prescriptions, verify information with prescribers, and expedite order processing. This role ensures regulatory compliance and quality, tracks orders, and may train less experienced pharmacists.

The position is remote, with initial training hours Monday–Friday 9:00 am–6:00 pm ET. During training, shifts run Eastern Time; after training, schedules vary by location (FL, IN, OH, PA or AZ): options include 11am–8pm EST or 9am–6pm

Qualifications

• Current resident pharmacist license in good standing.
• Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to work with other departments.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret prescriptions.
• Strong focus on customer service, quality and accuracy.
• Ability to manage timelines and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to adapt in a changing environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule for peak volume times.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians.
• Interpret physicians' or prescribers' prescriptions.
• Contact doctors and/or patients to verify prescription details to expedite processing.
• Verify and confirm the validity of controlled substances.
• Verify prescription information entered into the system.
• Contact physicians for new and/or transfer authorization.
• Work with physicians to convert prescriptions to generics or preferred drugs.
• Consult with patients regarding medication use and potential drug interactions.
• Back up other pharmacists as needed and train less experienced pharmacists.
