Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the Order Platform team in the US. You will shape backend systems for orders, captures, refunds, and settlements, and drive technical strategy that powers merchants and consumers at scale.

You will mentor engineers, define design standards, and own reliability, monitoring, and on-call readiness while collaborating across product and analytics teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, building and launching backend systems at scale.
• Strong experience with Python or Kotlin and distributed architectures.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and drive technical strategy in payments/commerce.

Responsibilities

• Set long-range technical strategy for the Order Platform team.
• Collaborate with product, design, and analytics to ensure reliability.
• Own monitoring, incident response, and on-call processes.
• Mentor engineers and drive high-quality code and architecture decisions.
