Job summary

BambooHR is seeking a Staff Agentic Software Engineer to lead the technical direction of a product area, guiding how multiple teams specify, delegate, and verify agentic work. You will set standards for specification quality, safety, and collaboration, while mentoring engineers across teams to adopt AI-powered, production-grade software practices.

In this remote Utah role, you’ll coordinate large-scale efforts, define release and security practices, and partner with product leadership to shape

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record shipping customer-facing software.
• Experience designing systems and data models with performance and data-flow tradeoffs.
• Ability to define specification standards and review gates across teams.
• Experience mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction beyond a single team.
• Proven ability to design agent workflows and orchestrate multi-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of a product area and set how teams specify, delegate, and verify agentic work.
• Define specifications quality standards and review gates.
• Establish when work should be agentic vs direct implementation and build risk-aware heuristics.
• Coordinate large-scale efforts across multiple teams to deliver collective value.
• Set verification practices and security architecture for agentic work across the product area.
• Establish readiness criteria and build scaffolding like prompts and playbooks.
• Resolve high-risk technical decisions and mentor engineers on technical direction.
• Partner with product leadership to shape roadmaps and architecture.
• Raise agentic craft through mentoring and cross-team guidance.
• Communicate strategy and tradeoffs clearly to leadership.
