Koala Health, Inc. is hiring a Staff Accountant to support month‑end close, reconciliations, and day‑to‑day accounting from a remote US position. You will work with the Controller, FP&A, and external partners to transition close activities in‑house as the company scales.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel. This role offers growth in a fast‑paced startup environment and occasional travel to our Boston HQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–4 years accounting experience with meaningful month‑end close in a growing org or public accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and U.S. GAAP.
• Hands‑on experience with journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, AP, and month‑end close processes.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills; ability to investigate discrepancies.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to manage recurring deadlines.
• Comfortable using AI and automation tools to improve workflows.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems; Proficient in Excel/Sheets.

Responsabilités

• Support day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, vendor payments, Ramp, employee expenses, and corporate card reconciliations.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries, accruals, and recurring close entries.
• Prepare cash and bank tie‑outs and maintain balance sheet reconciliations including inventory and other key accounts.
• Own assigned month‑end close activities and ensure documentation is complete and on time.
• Partner with Controller and external accountants to transition close activities in‑house.
• Maintain close documentation and support audit readiness.
• Prepare and support inventory reconciliations and related entries.
• Prepare payroll reconciliations and related journal entries.
• Collaborate with external advisors to resolve tax and accounting issues.
