Job summary

Shipcom is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our development team. You will keep SQL Server databases up and running 24/7, optimize performance, and ensure seamless data flow for internal applications.

You will lead database design, participate from conception to deployment, and drive reliability across the IoT product line while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; master’s preferred.
5+ years’ experience in SQL Server with performance and tuning expertise.
Experience administering and troubleshooting SQL Server databases including security patching and memory utilization.
Knowledge of load balancing, query optimization, and database schema design.
Experience with large multi-terabyte production databases.

Responsibilities

Perform day-to-day database system administration, including backups, security maintenance and performance tuning.
Create, update and maintain database objects in coordination with the development team.
Create, review and maintain code in database systems for upgrades and optimizations.
Upgrade, configure and monitor server and database performance; plan capacity.
Develop and test disaster recovery plans; ensure production SQL servers are reliable.
Perform data analysis and reporting tasks as needed.
