Job summary

VERSANT Media is seeking a SQL Database Administrator II to ensure reliability, performance, security, and continuous improvement across cloud and on‑prem databases. You’ll manage SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL in a collaborative, multi‑team environment.

Based in Florida and fully remote, you’ll partner with Development, Data Engineering, QA, and Infrastructure teams to strengthen operations, security, and disaster recovery, with occasional in‑person meetings about 10% of the time.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on SQL Server administration in production.
• Experience with AWS RDS and cloud/on‑prem environments.
• Strong knowledge of backups, HA/DR, and security practices.

Responsibilities

• Own health and reliability of SQL Server environments across prod, staging, and development.
• Administer MySQL and PostgreSQL as needed in cloud and on‑prem.
• Monitor and optimize performance using execution plans, indexing, and wait statistics.
• Strengthen security and disaster recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering on CI/CD, deployments, and migrations.
• Automate ops with PowerShell and IaC, enhancing observability and incident response.
