Job summary

Mesilla Valley Transportation is seeking a Database Administrator to manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server databases across cloud and on‑premises environments to optimize performance and support business operations.

You will lead performance tuning, implement robust security measures, and develop disaster recovery plans while mentoring Tier I staff and collaborating with application and data teams to ensure reliable, scalable data services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, or related field.
• 2–7 years of database administration experience focusing on SQL Server.
• Experience with performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery in cloud and on‑prem environments.
• Experience with replication, clustering, and high availability technologies.
• Mentoring junior admins and leading database projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server databases, cloud and on‑premises, for high availability and performance.
• Lead efforts to optimize database performance with tuning and indexing strategies.
• Implement and maintain advanced security measures to protect data.
• Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity.
• Mentor Level I administrators and share best practices and troubleshooting guidance.
• Collaborate with application and data teams to ensure seamless integration and performance of databases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues with expertise in database technologies.
