Job summary

Imagineeer is seeking a Senior Database Administrator specializing in Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL to support ongoing database operations in a federal contract environment. You will be responsible for the health, performance, and security of database environments, including upgrades, patching, and deployment activities critical to system reliability and compliance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience as a Database Administrator with MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Experience upgrading, patching, and migrations across SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with deployment, release management, and schema changes.
• Backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Strong security, compliance, and audit logging practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in a fully remote, distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Perform database upgrades, version migrations, and patch management for SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Plan and execute database deployments, including schema changes and configuration updates.
• Monitor performance; tune queries, indexes, and configurations across both platforms.
• Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity.
• Implement and maintain security controls, access management, and audit logging per federal requirements (NIST, FISMA).
• Troubleshoot database incidents; coordinate with infra and application teams.
• Support vulnerability remediation and compliance scanning for databases.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, SOPs, and change records.
• Collaborate with DevOps to support CI/CD for database changes.
• Coordinate with Program Management for contract deliverables and reporting.
