Job summary

RegEd in the United States is seeking a Database Administrator to provide operational and application database services across on-premises and cloud environments. You will own, track, and resolve database incidents, monitor health, backups, and security, and collaborate with other teams to improve performance and reliability.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of DBA experience, strong T-SQL and SQL Server skills, and hands-on Azure SQL experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of database administration, development, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or higher.
• Strong T-SQL skills including complex queries, stored procedures, transaction management, error handling, and dynamic SQL.
• Understanding of execution plans and query optimization techniques.
• Working knowledge of database backup, recovery, and HADR concepts.
• Familiarity with Azure SQL MI, Azure SQL DB, or Azure SQL on VMs.
• Experience with database security administration such as user management, role assignment, and access controls.
• Ability to build and maintain SQL scripts, indexes, and complex queries for data analysis and operational use.
• Strong understanding of database structures and OLTP concepts.
• Proven analytical ability and attention to detail in production environments.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with development teams in dynamic environments.
• Commitment to quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, and maintain database objects in on-premise and cloud environments.
• Monitor and maintain database health via backups, maintenance jobs, and index health.
• Manage logins, users, roles, and access privileges for security and compliance.
• Plan, implement, and test backup, restore, and recovery procedures.
• Investigate and resolve database incidents, including deadlocks and performance issues.
• Optimize queries and procedures using T-SQL and execution plans.
• Refresh dev/test databases to support QA and development.
• Build and maintain database monitoring infrastructure for alerts and metrics.
• Support database changes and deployments with architecture standards.
• Estimate effort for new/revised database systems.
