Job summary

FSSI - Financial Statement Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Microsoft SQL Database Administrator for our remote East Development team.

The role involves administering, tuning, securing, and recovering SQL Server environments across development, test, and production, with close collaboration with IT, development, and business teams. The ideal candidate will have 2–4 years of SQL Server experience, strong T-SQL skills, PowerShell automation, and familiarity with CI/CD/DevOps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Microsoft DP-300 or equivalent certification strongly preferred; other cloud/data certifications are a plus.
• Continued professional development in SQL Server, cloud platforms, security, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, monitor, patch, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server environments across development, test, and production.
• Install and configure SQL Server instances, databases, jobs, linked servers, maintenance plans.
• Monitor availability, performance, blocking, deadlocks, waits, storage, and health; resolve issues
• Perform SQL performance tuning, indexing, statistics maintenance, and query optimization
• Design, implement, test, and maintain backup/recovery strategies meeting RPO/RTO objectives
• Support high-availability and disaster-recovery technologies (Always On, failover clustering, log shipping)
• Manage database security, roles, permissions, encryption, auditing, and access controls
• Create and maintain T-SQL scripts, procedures, functions, views, indexes, and maintenance tasks
• Collaborate with developers to review designs, queries, and deployment scripts for performance and security
• Support CI/CD and DevOps integrations and release planning
• Automate DBA tasks using PowerShell, T‑SQL, and SQL Server Agent
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational support procedures
• Participate in incident response and root-cause analyses
• Work with infrastructure and security teams to ensure reliable and secure database services
• Evaluate workloads on-premises and in cloud (AWS) environments
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, business-continuity, and production standards
