Job summary

Great American Insurance Group seeks an Underwriting Specialist for the Northeast region (Maine to Virginia). This fully remote role prefers candidates in the Northeast or Illinois/Wisconsin.

You will evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business, analyze risk data, and collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to gather essential information. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or related field, with 5+ years

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of underwriting experience recommended.
• Professional designations (AU/CPCU/CIC/INS/ARM) preferred or in progress.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong analytical detail.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and underwrites new and renewal business per underwriting guidelines.
• Analyzes risk data to inform coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborates with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to gather necessary information.
• Orders and reviews risk reports and inspections to inform decisions.
• Maintains documentation of underwriting decisions and regulatory compliance.
• Engages in relationship-building to generate new business and retain profitable accounts.
