Job summary

TemPositions Group of Companies is seeking a Hearing Representative for Special Education Claims on a remote, 1+ year assignment for a government agency addressing NYC claims backlog. The role requires bar admission and litigation experience to guide claims from intake to resolution or settlement.

Responsibilities include managing a high-volume caseload (100–200), representing at administrative hearings, and negotiating settlements while ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.

Qualifications

• Bar license active in good standing in any U.S. state.
• Minimum 1+ year of recent litigation experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to troubleshoot basic tech issues.
• Experience managing 100–200 cases concurrently.
• Must log activities in 15-minute increments.
• Comfort with virtual tools like Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
• Willingness to work within Eastern Time Zone hours (7 AM–7 PM).
• Preferred: Administrative Law, IEP/Special Education, government agency experience, public interest work, settlement experience.

Responsibilities

• Case Management: Manage a high-volume caseload of 100–200 special education claims.
• Representation: Prepare for and/or litigate complex cases; attend hearings and negotiations.
• Administrative Process: Navigate procedural requirements and comply with laws and regulations.
• Documentation: Prepare and review filings, agreements, and reports.
• Settlement Negotiation: Negotiate settlements including attorney’s fees.
• Training and Collaboration: Collaborate with specialists and attorneys; train staff on compliance.
• Research and Compliance: Analyze case law, gather evidence, guide on obligations.
